Urban Escapes Socially Responsible Travel
Here at Urban Escapes we are committed to promoting lifestyles and business operations that are environmentally and socially responsible. This philosophy is an integral part of everything we do, from our trip planning to the partners we select.
Our Mission
- Every year we donate part of our proceeds to organizations that maintain the trails and parks we use, such as AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club) and NYNJTC (New York–New Jersey Trail Conference)
- We’ve “adopted” a trail in the area and perform regular trail maintenance on it
- We follow a strict “Leave No Trace” policy and encourage all of our Escapers to pick up garbage they see while hiking
- We are dedicated to promoting human-powered activities and strive to have our calendar consist of low-footprint trips (hiking, backpacking, biking, rock climbing, kayaking, etc.)
- Whenever possible, we purchase locally grown and organic produce for our trips
- On our international trips, we team up with local companies that give back to their communities and share our Responsible Travel philosophy
- We support and partner with gear manufacturers and brands that are also committed to environmentally and socially responsible practices
