Our Trips Mexico Adventure

Rappeling into an underground cenote

We’ve scouted the Yucatan Peninsula to find the best adventures in the most exotic places and we’ve come up with an unforgettable itinerary. In just five days you’ll rappel down into an underground cenote, zip-line across dense rainforests and go spelunking through an impressive 600-meter long cave. You’ll get to hike through ancient Mayan ruins, snorkel in crystal-clear, blue waters, relax on a lazy river, have an authentic lunch at a Mayan village, and much more!

We’ll stay at a beautiful hotel just minutes from the beach, in the heart of the Playa del Carmen, a vibrant town with an exciting night-life. You’ll have a Spanish-speaking Urban Escapes guide to take care of all the nitty gritty details and sort out happy hour specials. And we’ve teamed up with Alltournative, a company that has been organizing tours in the Maya Riviera for years and knows the area better than anyone.

Sound too good to be true? Check out pictures from the last trip and you’ll see what we could only try to describe in words. This is truly an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary

Wed: The adventure starts as soon as you get off the plane. You’ll be greeted by a friendly Urban Escapes guide who will transport the group to a beautiful hotel in Playa del Carmen. Then we’ll kick off the trip with a group dinner and of course, an Urban Escapes happy hour, Mexico-style.

Thurs: You’ll wake up early, because we’ve got a full day ahead of us! The day begins with an exciting off-track itinerary: hiking through dense forests, zip-lining across the jungle and rappelling down into a breath-taking Cenote. Then we’ll visit an authentic Maya village, where you’ll get to see a self-sufficient Mayan community and enjoy lunch prepared by the women of the village. The journey continues with a visit to the 1,500 year-old ancestral city of Coba, an archaeological site hidden deep inside the rain forest. You’ll get a guided tour of the ruins and even get to climb Nohoch Muul, the tallest pyramid in the state.

Fri: Today you’ll experience the wonders of Xelha, an all-natural water park complete with rope swings, cliff jumps, lazy rivers, and an all-you-can-eat/drink restaurant and bar! We’ll need the full day to explore the whole park and take advantage of the open bar. You’ll also get the unique opportunity to swim with dolphins at an unbelievable 2-for-1 rate.

Sat: If you’ve ever imagined what the Earth’s center may look like, today you’ll see it first-hand. First we’ll start the morning with an exciting 4x4 ride into the Yucatan Jungle. We’ll make our way over to a water-filled cave where you’ll be greeted by expert guides and be given a wetsuit, helmet with special lamp, snorkel mask and fins. You will snorkel through a breath-taking route below the Earth’s surface, amidst thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. This is an experience that will stay with you for a long time. Then it’s one last hoorah at night before heading back to reality.

Sun: Lazy morning—get your last-minute souvenirs before we go to the airport and head back home.
