Our Trips Overnight Trip: Room with a View
In case the name isn’t clear enough, this overnight hike is home to some of the most spectacular views in the Hudson Valley. Deep in the woods of Bear Mountain State Park we’ve found a shelter on a beautiful ridge line that you can only get to by backpacking several challenging miles. If you’re looking for a bit of exercise and a weekend away from New York City, this trip is it.
We’ll depart Manhattan at 9am on Saturday morning and spend the day climbing four peaks (which means four amazing viewpoints) to get to the campsite. We’ll stop for a big picnic lunch at the most the scenic ridge and enjoy some scrambling in the area before heading back on the trail. You’ll enjoy a delicious and well-deserved hearty dinner as we watch the sunset from our new “home” and end the night with games around the campfire. If the season is right, and it usually is, breakfast will be a real treat with hot oatmeal and freshly picked wild blueberries that grow all around the campsite.
Sunday is a nice hike out with more scenic views and a slightly more relaxing group of peaks to climb. You’ll return to Manhattan around 4pm with new friends, plenty of stories, and probably some sore quads.

Included: transportation, snacks, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, tents and camping permits, group gear, licensed guides

Departure: 9:00 am on Saturday morning, 43rd St. between 8th and 9th Ave. Look for van or bus on north side of 43rd Street.
Return: around 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, 43rd St. between 8th and 9th
