Our Trips Spectacular Scramble
Looking to do something a little different with your weekend? Our Breakneck Ridge hike is that and more! While not for the faint of heart, this 9-mile day trip traverses several peaks west of the Hudson offering stunning vistas of the Catskills, the Shawangunk Mountains, and the entire Hudson Valley. Several rugged, scrambling ascents are sure to leave you with a huge smile—and sore legs—at the end of the day.
We’ll depart Manhattan at 8:00 am and drive to the trailhead. After a few hours of hiking with plenty of photo ops and water breaks, we’ll stop for a mountaintop lunch at an old fire-lookout tower where you will enjoy a 360 degree view of the Hudson Valley. After this welcome recharge, we’ll continue our hike with more climbs and descents, which means more fantastic views. Plan to be completely tuckered out by the time we get back to the city in the evening!
Note: Because this hike features long mileage and very difficult terrain, it is not appropriate for beginner hikers. We recommend that you enjoy one of our Easy to Intermediate hikes first before coming on this trip. This is among one of the most difficult trips that we run and we just want to make sure that everyone has the best experience. Please contact us if you have any questions!
